Katrinna + Corey’s

Hornby Island Elopement

A Sacred, Soulful Celebration on the Wild Coast of BC | Hornby Island Elopement Photographer

Some weddings feel more like homecomings.

Katrinna and Corey’s elopement on Hornby Island wasn’t just one of my favourite weddings—it was a full-circle moment for me. Hornby is where I spent my formative teenage years. It’s where I first picked up a camera and launched my first business, Paradise Photography. My “studio” had a sand-filled floor, and a driftwood-framed sign on the door that read, "Find me on the beach." Sessions were booked by rolls of film and developed in quiet wonder.

Returning to this sacred coastline to document Katrinna and Corey’s love story felt like coming home—not only to the land, but to the heart of why I do this work.

An Intentional Day Rooted in Nature and Connection

Katrinna got ready at a breathtaking private residence nestled into the landscape—quiet, serene, and full of meaning. Cory prepared for the day at Fossil Beach Farm, their chosen retreat, with views stretching over the Salish Sea. There was a calm in the air—a quiet excitement as they moved through the morning, surrounded by textures of cedar, ocean breeze, and deep intention.

Their ceremony took place through the forest at Grassy Point Beach —a spot locals know well for its quiet beauty and expansive views. As they exchanged vows on the shoreline, framed by trees and driftwood, it felt like time slowed down. The sound of the waves. The golden light on their skin. The way they looked at each other—it was deeply, disarmingly real.

Wildflowers, Sunset Magic & Secret Spots

After the ceremony, we visited a dear friend’s flower farm— Alina Milek Designs, for portraits among vibrant summer blooms. It was whimsical, earthy, and full of joyful colour. Later, we snuck away for sunset portraits at a locals-only secret spot I’ve known since I was a teen. The light filtered through the trees just right, casting that dreamlike glow Hornby does so well.

We laughed, we explored, and we made art together—anchored in a place that holds history, heart, and healing.

Why Hornby Elopements Are So Special

Hornby isn’t just a location—it’s a feeling. It’s for couples who crave stillness, who value connection over convention, and who want their day to feel like an extension of who they are. If that sounds like you, you’re not alone. I walk with you every step of the way—from finding hidden ceremony spots, to co-creating timelines that let you breathe, to capturing every real, wild-hearted moment.

I don't just photograph your day—I help you feel it. I bring grounded guidance, deep local knowledge, and an intuitive approach that helps you stay connected to each other and the moment.
